Sing as you mean to go on

Guess what I just found? A clip of a choral concert I sang in last year at the Cadogan Hall. We're singing Handel's Messiah. Enjoy.

Did you spot me? I'm third from the left at the back. You can just see a blond head behind me.

Saturday was our latest concert, Orff's Carmina Burana. The performance was amazing and I had a ball. Sadly, no recordings have come to light so far but, if I can find one, I'll post it.

Yet another thing we have in common! Choir singing. What part are you? I can do alto, second soprano and piano.

I'm a mezzo-soprano now singing Second Sop. I used to have a very good range, from low G all the way up to top C#, but my top notes disappeared during the years I didn't sing. My best now is an A. I've sung alto as well as first soprano.

Somewhere out there (I hope) is a recording of the ? 36th Intervarsity Choral Festival concert I sang in. We did Herbert Howell's Hymnus Paradisi. We were accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (part of the ABC), who taped it and broadcast it on ABC.FM, their classical radio channel. If I you listen carefully to the top notes, that's me pitching the B flats for my section.

Wow. I don't think my work is online anywhere, but if it is and you listen to the San Franciso Choral Society's Verdi Requiem, Brahms Requiem, Mozart Requiem and a few others from early this decade, you'll probably not hear me in it. Just sayin'.... (It's a BIG choir.) But we do have that in common.
